We’re Doing Some Early Spring Cleaning Over Here!

We have decided to do some early spring cleaning over here and wanted to show you our customized journals that we create.  I love all of our journals and each have a special meaning behind why they were created.  My ultimate goal in creating each journal was to be a source of inspiration and motivation when someone uses the journal.  The first that will be highlighted is our:

“I’m a Survivor Breast Cancer” Journal

I created this journal to honor the women in my life, as well as, around the world who are in the fight, won the fight, or who bravely loss their fight.  This journal is dedicated to my Auntie who won her fight and my Aunt Betty who loss her battle.  Next is:

“My Bridal” Journal

IMG_5212This journal includes a look at all of your vendors numbers at a glance, along with, wedding timelines to help you stay on track.  A perfect wedding journal to fit in your purse and customized with your name.  The last journal highlighted today is the:

“Walking into my Destiny” Journal

This is for the woman who loves shoes and who knows her purpose and is walking in it.

These could be a wonderful Valentine’s Day gift, Birthday Gift, or even Mother’s Day Gift.  You can check out these and more of our collection here.  We’ll be sharing more over the next few days.

Pantone’s Color of the Year Marsala – A Slam Dunk

Pantone Color of the Year

When Pantone introduced its new color of the year I was immediately captivated.  It’s a color that may be familiar to many of us, but I honestly haven’t taken advantage of the fullness of it’s beauty.  In fact, I can only remember having one client who used this color and I think it makes for a wonderful color palette.

Per Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, “Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us into its embracing warmth.”   And I totally agree, when I look at Marsala I get a cool feeling and can see it being used for invitations, bridesmaid dresses, groomsmen attire, linens, and so much more.

Marsala can be paired with so many other colors such as oranges, yellows, lavenders, and even reds to give it a vibrant pop.  Pantone even recommends the following options for Wedding Color Palettes.

So what’s all the buzz about?  Take a look and see how so many have been inspired by Marsala…

I love how the designer of this invitation paired the Antique Gold color with the hot sultry color Marsala

Check out this beautiful nail color by Essie, a nice touch for any bridesmaid or a bride who wants to add a splash of color to her nails on wedding day.

Now that we’ve seen some items to accessories ones beauty let’s take a look at some of the attire.  I love this bridesmaid dress.

Being a shoe girl myself, I couldn’t quite decide which pair I would wear, so here’s an idea why not buy them both!

And now something for the bride, she defintely would be the center of attention with this awesome bridal bouquet

And lastly check out these awesome wedding decor ideas

I don’t know about you but I am even more inspired by this wonderful color.  I can see myself using this color in wedding decor, home decor and even fashion in the near future.  Well I hope you guys have something planned this weekend.  After the launch of the color of the year, I realized that I have a purse in that color scheme that I will toting this weekend.  I am so excited and can’t wait.

I hope you guys have an awesome weekend and I look forward to talking to you soon.

Happy New Year

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been since last year that we last connected.  Well Happy New Year to you!  I am so excited to be back in California.  I went to my home town of Missouri and was able to spend three whole weeks with my family.

It was super awesome.  I am a huge family lover and always revel in the time I get to spend with them.  I was able to spend a lot of quality time with my mother and aunt, something I really value especially with the year we had in losing my dad, and my cousin during the Christmas holidays.

I also got to spend time with my nieces and nephews and boy are they getting big.  And lastly I got to spend time with my sissy poo, my brother, my little sisters, cousins and friends.  Well enough about me, I feel like I have so much to tell you!!!

Well during my visit, I was also able to really put some time into looking at my business and what will come this year for Erika’s Elegance Weddings and Events.  This is where you come in!

Happy New Year Post 1.20.2015

What do you want to see from Erika’s Elegance this year?  Are there questions about Wedding etiquette that you need advice on?  Are you planning a kids birthday party and don’t know where to begin?  Or do you want to know what colors pair well together to make a fabulous color scheme for your event?

Your opinion matters to me and I would love to hear your feedback.  I believe this is a year for us to grow and I want you to be a part of that journey.  Well here’s to an awesome year and I look forward to connecting with you soon.

Engagement Season is Officially Here

dreamstime_xxl_37273881Between working a wedding yesterday and seeing a good friend post his proposal to his girlfriend yesterday, I realize that Engagement Season is here.  Well November 27th officially kicked off that time of the year that many men and women wait for.  It’s a time that we hear all the wonderful proposal ideas that happen during this time.  Yes engagement season is really an occasion that happens between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day.  I especially enjoy this season because I often get the chance to help grooms come up with that perfect proposal idea.

The buzz this year has also been that many brides would LOVE to get engaged, and even married on December 13th of this year leaving them with an iconic date to remember of 12-13-14.  How cool is that???  Per a survey completed by David’s Bridal, there are over 20,000 couples slotted to get married on this date a huge jump from the 7,200 that got married on December 13, 2013.

So if you’re one of those lucky women who have already been proposed to, hats off to you, we share in your excitement! But if you are one of the ones still waiting to here those magical words, we can continue to dream with you about planning that wonderful event of a lifetime.  Stay tuned for more as we share some awesome proposal ideas, and I’ll even share how my hubby proposed to me, I still get Goosebumps thinking about it.

Have a wonderful day!

Aleshea and Robert’s Wedding Day

I had a blast working with my couple Aleshea and Robert to create a event they would remember a lifetime celebrated around the 4th of July.

I was able to work with the couple during their entire planning process.  I always ask my couple what memories they want to walk away with at the end or their wedding day and they wanted to ensure that they included their son Carter during their vows, they wanted to incorporate Aleshea’s Jamaican heritage in the food, and lastly they wanted their guests to have a great time all night. Let’s take a look at this beautiful event….

The ceremony and reception were held at one of my favorite venues in Saint Louis, the Sheldon Concert Hall.  It’s so full of rich history.

The day started off with a nice brisk breeze and clear skies truly a day fit for a wonderful celebration such as this.  Notice the Arch in the background another one of Saint Louis’ famous landmarks.

One thing apparent when working with the couple, was the love that the two shared between the two of them and the zeal for life and loving one another.  Hence is where the theme evolved.  The bride wanted to use famous couples that demonstrate a lasting love.  So I said let’s go with the tagline and theme of “The Perfect Couple” which was added to the seating chart, menu cards, and table numbers.

Aleshea chose the color palette of an eggplant purple which we paired with a platinum silver.  The bridesmaids wore platinum dresses all if different styles to suit their personality while the guys wore black tuxedos with platinum vests.

The bride wore this beautiful gown with just a touch of bling and shoes with another little touch of bling.  So classic and beautiful.

Aleshea looked absolutely stunning and her make-up was flawless with her eyes and lips donned in the perfect shade of purple.

And how cute is this little tuxedo that was worn by Master Carter, the couple’s son.  Can you say adorable.

When working on the overall design concept the bride wanted simple elegance.  So I created this look by draping columns in purple fabric and I created baby’s breath arrangements and added to the columns to soften the design.  I then added lots of candles on the floor and then I sprinkled purple rose petals on the floor.  This was all against a white draped backdrop with purple uplighting.  We brought the lights down a bit and had a very romantic setting.

Once the I Do’s were over the bridal party was swept off to take some offsite pictures.  The Lance, the photographer of Lance Omar Thurman Photography was awesome.  He has a wonderful eye in capturing candid photos that demonstrates the essence of the ones being photographed.  I think that these were some awesome shots!

Then it was party time!

To cap the night off all the guests went to the rooftop to see the fireworks over the city and to set off a few sparklers themselves.

I loved working with the couple and a big congrats to Aleshea and Robert!

I worked with some wonderful vendors and enjoyed partnering with them.

It’s Wedding Season

Wow, what a couple of crazy months but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We are definitely in the midst of wedding season and I am having so much fun. I’ve spent the past few weeks working with brides and ensuring that their wedding day is every thing they dreamt it would be. I had so much fun with my 4th of July bride. Check out the beautiful bouquet I created for her.

I think this is going to become an Erika’s Elegance tradition because I had a 4th of July bride last year, what do you think?  If you know a 4th of July bride coming up, send them my way. Well I have a few more weddings this month and I can’t wait. This one coming up this weekend will be a nature theme.

Can’t wait to connect with you again soon and share more details.

Savoring Saturday

Happy Saturday!  It’s been almost a week and a half since our last post and boy have we been busy.  I missed you guys so much and hope you will enjoy the content over the next few weeks.  So you ask, what has Erika’s Elegance been up to?  Springtime is here and  we just put together a wonderful Springtime Bridal Shower concept that I’ll share next week that I’m sure you’ll love.

I’ve also shared with you that I volunteer as the LA City Coordinator for Brides Against Breast Cancer.  Their Nationwide Gown Tour headed to our area on March 30th at Mount Palomar in the beautiful wine country of Temecula.  We had an awesome turn out with wonderful brides, vendors, and volunteers.  We sold 14 dresses, which is awesome!!!  I love volunteering for such a wonderful organization.  BABC contributes to programs for cancer patients, their families and caregivers. Their “Nationwide Tour of Gowns” bridal shows around the country help ensure that people impacted by cancer have the resources and information they  need in their battle with cancer.
